ABOUT THE COMPANY
Ethical Dog Training was developed to help all dog owners reach their goal with ease and affordability. The purpose came from the simple fact; giving a dog black and white options, breaking the communication barrier which allows us to work in the grey area with better predictability. Increasing communication decreases unwanted behaviour.

WHO WE ARE
Meet the trainers

Emilia
Founder - Dog Trainer
Emilia Borkowski started working with dogs in 2008 and has a deep compassion for all dogs. She uses her years of knowledge to teach people about their beloved pets. When she’s not consulting clients, her head is buried in books about dogs and attends every seminar on dog training she can. She prides herself on keeping up to date with her qualification from NDTF, completed in 2018 and is always readily available to new information.
Her time working in shelters has expanded her knowledge in how dogs cope with stress, using this understanding to train dogs with leash reactivity. “It’s rewarding to see that during this training, owners gain a deeper connection with their dogs by learning more about behaviour and body language. Gaining back the control that was lost, back to enjoying their dog walks”.
Emilia is set to tackle the ever growing number of dogs dealing with Anxiety Related Behaviours. Living with an anxious dog can be quite a handful and she is prepared to make each home a stress free environment. It’s incredibly rewarding to see you and your dog happy.
She covers the following and surrounding suburbs for in-home sessions: Bayswater, Blackburn, Boronia, Burwood, Dandenong, Ferntree Gully, Glen Waverly, Kilsyth, Lilydale, Lysterfield, Mitcham, Mount Waverly, Nunawading, Ringwood, Rowville, Surrey Hills, The Basin, Vermont, Wantirna, Warrandyte, Wheelers Hill and more.
Her availabilities are: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Emilia is absolutely fascinated with canine scent detection and volunteers with Australian Search and Rescue K9 (ASAR K9) with her dog Freja. We train handler and dog teams to respond to emergencies to find people missing in the bush or country areas.

Chloe
Dog Trainer
Chloe is a passionate and dedicated dog trainer who is building her skills through hands-on work and formal study, currently completing a Bachelor of Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science. As a Puppy School Trainer at Ethical Dog Training, she assists in delivering engaging training programs and provides friendly, tailored guidance to new pet owners.
Before joining Ethical Dog Training, Chloe worked at a local pet store for three years as a Retail Assistant and Supervisor. During this time, she completed the Pet Academy Trainer program, where she took part in practical workshops and online modules to become a certified trainer. She has supported the training of a therapy dog and continues to grow her skills through nose works, general obedience, and sheep herding with her two Kelpies.
Her volunteer work includes supporting the ASAR K9 unit and fostering three Border Protection Customs dogs, giving her valuable insight into the needs of working breeds.
Outside of dog training, Chloe has a Cert III in Equine Studies and years of experience working with horses and animals in both volunteer and paid roles. Whether she’s leading a Puppy School class or helping a new dog settle in, Chloe is known for her calm approach, strong instincts, and genuine love for animals.
Chloe is the leading trainer for Puppy School and Obedience Classes.
She is also available for private lessons, 25km around Ferntree Gully. Her availabilities are: Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Holly
Dog Trainer
Holly (with the collies) shares her life with her two Border Collies, Stella and Archie, who inspired her to complete her Certificate III in Dog Training and Behaviour pursue a career as a dog trainer.
Holly’s love for dogs extends far beyond her own, and she genuinely enjoys getting to know every dog she meets.
Before joining Ethical Dog Training, Holly worked in a variety of roles, primarily as a support worker and as a dog walker, sitter, and minder. These experiences gave her valuable opportunities to develop her understanding of both people and dogs while building meaningful relationships based on trust, patience, and clear communication.
Working with a wide variety of dogs allowed Holly to develop a keen eye for reading dog body language, understanding each dog’s needs, and creating safe, enriching, and positive experiences. Combined with her ongoing professional development in dog training, these practical experiences have given her a strong foundation for supporting dogs and their owners.
Outside of dog training, Holly enjoys tending to her indoor plants and caring for her two cockatiels. She appreciates the love (and occasional chaos) that comes with sharing her home with animals and finds joy in creating an environment where they can all thrive.
Holly is available for private lessons, 25km around Ferntree Gully. Her availabilities are: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Jacqui
Dog Trainer
Dogs have always played a big role in Jacqui Bowden’s life, being by her side from a young age, both personally and professionally. They have taught her endless lessons about the behaviour of animals, humans and even herself.
Jacqui has been working with dogs for over 7 years from pet sitting, dog walking, puppy school training to working with seized dogs.
Throughout those years Jacqui has completed many dog related courses, gaining connections and have been offered amazing experiences.
For 5 years she managed a dog day care holding up to 70 dogs indoors and outdoors. So many close dog friendships were built there.
Currently working at a shelter with council seized dogs, Jacqui is incredibly adept to reading canine body language. She is able to recognise their emotions, control highly intense situations and calm down stressed dogs. Jacqui is empathetic to every case she works with, always acknowledging the emotions of both dogs and their owners. Emilia is proud to have Jacqui by her side when they work together on behavioural consults that need a second pair of hands.
Nearing graduation from the National Dog Trainers Federation (NDTF), she is enjoying the mentoring provided by Emilia at Ethical Dog Services (EDS). With her years’ worth of knowledge, Jacqui currently writes blogs and social media posts for EDS and takes on clients in the following and surrounding areas of: Parkdale, Mordialloc, Mentone, Aspendale, Mornington, Mt Eliza, Frankston, Seaford, Bonbeach, Edithvale, Carrum, Cheltenham, Beaumaris and Moorabbin.
I asked Jacqui what interests her most about dog training and she explains “I love trying to think like a dog, how they view the world. Some people just see dogs as pets, I see them as my people. I’ve always wanted to work with scent detection dogs or assistance dogs. What they’re capable of learning in such little time- the fact that they are able to help detect seizures up to 45 minutes before they happen which is something not even humans can do, blows my mind.”
The handsome devil pictured with Jacqui is named Alfie, a 3-year-old Ridgeback cross. You’ve probably seen his face all over our Instagram page, the poster child for our posts! Click here and see if you can spot h
